2023 - Now: I independently deliver a post-graduate course: EIE546 Video Technology (View the Introductory Video here) in Hong Kong PolyU.
- Impact: Enrollment more than doubled from 87 students in 2023 to 193 students in 2025.
- Evaluation: Consistently received exceptional scores in Student Feedback Questionnaires, with a score of 4.9/5 (2025).
You can view my teaching syllabus here. This subject provides an in-depth discussion on a wide range of important and current techniques on digital videos.
Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:
- describe the basic principles of video technologies, such as video coding, video standards, video surveillance, 3D videos, video communications, video processing for IoT applications;
- describe the operational principles of one or two advanced topics of video technology and give evaluations;
- perform literature survey; give professional report, analysis, and/or carry out practical realization of video processing algorithms;
- appreciate and take up the related engineering work on video technology, and
- carry out initial research work on video technology and AI-based video processing.
